The Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD) welcomes volunteers at its South Side facility to help segment large quantities of food into smaller quantities for distribution around the city.

Select Woodlawn Community Food Pantry as your local food pantry during sign-up, and we’ll earn credits to buy more food for our clients. Sign up to volunteer for a GCFD Packing Day

Always a model of food safety and sanitation procedures, the GCFD has ramped up precautions to maintain social distancing and ensure volunteer safety. Three-hour shifts are available almost every day of the week, and volunteers can sign up on their own, with the members of their household or in groups.

GCFD is excited to welcome volunteers ages 11+. Volunteers age 16 and older are welcome to register independently. One adult (18 or older) can create a group with up to nine youth ages 11 to 15.

Please visit the Greater Chicago Food Depository website for more details on their current Covid-19 precautions, volunteer information and to sign up for an available shift.
